Eek! Halloween Already

Horrors, spooks, and ghouls! It’s nearing the end of August and retailers as well as wholesalers are getting ready for the one day of the year that its OK for children to knock on strangers’ doors asking for candy in the middle of the night: Halloween. Though one might think there isn’t much profit to made from Halloween it is quite the contrary. Halloween costumes, make-up, candy, and decorations fly off shelves to prepare for this night of debauchery as kids and adults alike prepare for the festivities.

In recent years Halloween is a holiday that young adults have taken as their own. Large cities will have massive parties in their downtown districts while the under twenty-one crowd dresses up to attend a house party at a guy who knows a guy who is twenty-one. Thus adult costumes are very popular, particularly humorous costumes as well as couples’ costumes. Though no two costumes will have the same wholesale price after a little research a deluxe female vampire costume will put you back a paltry $30 for a fourteen unit box. Make-up is even less expensive with $20 purchasing you a standard vampire make-up kit in a box containing thirty units. Though more commonly used by children as an adult woman is more likely to use her previously owned cosmetics it is worth carrying at least a few cases of cheap costume make-up.

Aside from adult costumes retailers should keep in mind that Americans spend approximately two billion dollars on candy alone each year. Snickers, the most popular the candy at Halloween, is available in large cases typically holding fifty to a hundred units for a low price. A good bit of advice: even if you are not a convenience store it is wise to buy candy wholesale from C-Store suppliers as you’re likely to find a lower price. Try checking the C-Store category on GetThatWholesale for various suppliers to check their prices and delivery rates.

It should be noted that Halloween, much like Christmas, is a decorations heavy holiday. Not many people really decorate for Thanksgiving but it’s pretty common to find houses covered in fake spider webs, stuffed ghosts, and other horrifying décor during the month of October. America has seen a rise in the popularity of the local neighborhood haunted house, particularly amongst the suburban set. This is probably a fairly lucrative product for dollar stores, big box retailers, and small party shops who already will be selling costumes and candies.

Halloween is the beginning of the major holiday season in the United States and the time that retailers begin gearing up for the biggest shopping holiday: Christmas. However doesn’t mean Halloween isn’t a major event for retailers. With the massive sales of candy, costumes, decorations, cosmetics, and seasonal decorations a well informed retailer can make quite a pretty penny from the day after Mischief Night. So if you’re a retailer who has formerly dismissed Halloween in favor of getting an extra head start on Christmas perhaps it is time to rethink that policy and see the possibilities in catering to witches and goblins.
